Lake Bled, Slovenia

The Lake Bled came into existance when the Bohinj Glacier moved away. The Lake Bled is 2,120 m (1,320 mi) long, up to 1,380 m (860 mi) wide and it is of the tectonic origin. After the last Ice Age, the Bohinj Glacier deepend its natural tectonic hollow and gave it its present form. The lake is situated in a picturesque environment, surrounded by mountains and forests. The lake surrounds Bled Island, the only natural island in Slovenia. The Lake Bled is also well known among rowers because it has very good conditions for the sport.
